The Winery
Sera Fina Cellars
Sera Fina is Italian for “fine evening” and there are many of those here in Amador County. The stars that fill the evening sky inspired our winery name and label design, and we hope that a glass of Sera Fina will inspire you, too.
Opening a winery has been my dream for as long as I can remember. I suppose my grandfather created this desire for me and my siblings as we grew up; we never had to look for weekend or summer jobs because there was always work waiting for La Famiglia at his winery and I loved it.
My grandfather and father taught me about winemaking the old-fashioned way – cleaning barrels, working on the bottling line, picking grapes and trying to avoid the bees that were always around at harvest time. I just hope we had made up for the chaos we sometimes caused throughout the winery in our younger years. This reminds me of my own kids and the other 6th generation Scotto’s who will run the show one day.
Later on, I learned about winemaking the “modern way” in the U.C. Davis Viticulture and Enology program. My wines reflect a combination of the traditional and the modern, but most importantly, Sera Fina is a tribute to my family’s winemaking history. Our wines are well balanced, food friendly and made to be enjoyed with family and friends, especially around the dinner table and at our tasting room.
Today Sera Fina is a reflection of my family’s past and present. It is a place to make memories with your family and friends; come feel the positive vibe, while sipping on great wine and refreshing ciders.
A Famiglia Strategy
Winemaking at Sera Fina
My favorite part of every harvest is working with the growers and strategizing the best time to pick. Each harvest brings a new adventure, even with Mother Nature being unpredictable.
Over the last 10 years I have been purchasing grapes from multiple growers, throughout the Sierra Foothills.
Celebrate
V|14 Story
514, five fourteen or V|14 represents a very special day for Sera Fina Cellars! May 14th is both the birth date of my estate vineyard and myself. Every year we celebrate this very special relationship I have with my vines near or on May 14th. This vineyard is made up of Sangiovese, Barbera, Malbec and Primitivo.
